I love how the gorilla was taken out of his natural environment, a human crawls into his cage, and not the mother or the boy but the gorilla pays the price for it. So many things wrong with this. Animals are treated extremely unfairly by humans.

@Achilles My reading comprehension is fine, but your logical reasoning is pathetically sad. The physical traits of strength and “prowess” is only as important, or even less so, than the trait of intellect. You said with or without guns, we would get bodied. You’re objectively wrong. I know that’s hard for you to deal with because no one likes realizing how incredibly dumb they are. You’ll get over it kid.

It's crazy that this could've been avoided if the mother actually was looking after her child, the gorilla had no intention in hurting the kid it just wanted to bring him to safety.

We have no idea what the gorilla intended to do with the child. 100% the mother is at fault. But Gorillas aren’t meant to be in an environment where they are surrounded by hundreds of humans every day. You cannot just predict what a gorilla would do because it’s wild animal. They are known to kill young gorillas that are not their own so there’s no telling what it would have done.

"As a society, we are quick to judge how a parent could take their eyes off their child." Bro, it said he went under a fence, over a bush, and wires, and in all that time which probably took over 15 seconds, she didn't once wonder what her kid was doing at a gorilla enclosure. Then she goes on to get a gorilla killed and blames society.

@Kendall Excuse me, in the case of Adam Walsh, the ignorant mother is @ blame for the kidnapping and murder of her son. She walked into a Sears store in a mall, left her 6 year old little boy to play @ the pinball machines while she went shopping, wtf???
What mother in her right mind leaves her child at another part of a shopping center so she can go shopping and expects nothing bad to happen and then cries when tragedy strikes!
Adam would still be alive had his mother had more common sense and took responsibility of her child. She dumped him, he got murdered!!!!!!!
Sad lesson but a waste of life for Adam Walsh, Rest In God..Baby Boy

0:37 He dragged the child to the place he could see everything around him. That is the perfect spot if you want to protect something or someone because you can't get attacked from behind you, look at it. His back is to the wall so he only has to worry about what is in front of him. Its protective instinct. I assume there were other gorillas in the enclosure so he made sure nobody could sneak up on him. The people screaming aren't helping ofcourse, filling the air with panic. The gorilla seems the most sensible in this situation

Some supposed professional: You can't take risks with a silverback.
Given that there were multiple cases in the past where a child fell into a gorilla habitat and the gorillas helped them, I think you could very well take a risk there.

    • Edie Grant
      Edie Grant 12 दिन पहले

Completely different situations. In the other situations the children were unconscious. In this situation, the child was screaming and crying, which the zoo said made the gorilla more anxious and upset.

In the end I agree with you...
I watch my toddler like a hawk!!! People think I'm very overprotective. I took my eyes off my toddler when he was one and fell down the stairs (I put my trust in a stupid faulty baby gate) its possible the mom thought the toddler couldn't make it over the barrier and looked away for few seconds (trust me when you have a boy toddler who is a climber seconds is all it takes sometimes) STILL it's hard wrap my mind around not having your child in arms reach and in direct sight at a zoo mainly because to me there so many people around your toddler could get lost EASILY or crushed if he runs out in front of someone and they fall on him. There's so many bad things that can happen with a toddler at a zoo BESIDES falling into an animal enclosure...

  • Russell Williams

This is a tough situation but you can’t blame the mother here that was a terrible barrier the start off with an if you have kids you understand how easy it is for kids to end up in a bad predicament like this. It’s sad the gorilla lost his life but the way you people love to sue these days for every time your feelings get hurt this was the best outcome in a terrible situation.

@Rebecca Cummings How is stating the obvious, narcissistic? “Each animal has their own strengths” - Thanks, Captain obvious. Except other animals strengths mean nothing to a species of animal that is intelligent enough to nullify said strengths. A chimp would be able to mutilate even the strongest human if we all lived butt naked in the wild, however humans have reached a level of intelligence that makes the chimps physical strength a non-threat to us in everyday life. Our strength as humans, allows us dominance over every other species regardless of their specific strengths, hence my use of the word, “superior”. There is nothing narcissistic about that claim. You’re obviously just some weird lib dork, probably with green hair, that clearly lacks critical thinking ability.

So let's not use the 'lame' excuse has an adult (who chose to parent a child and be 'fully responsible' for it welfare) "it is easy to judge!). Because it is, and you have!!.
Also, it is a terrible shame that the Gorilla was shot dead, but a decision that had to be made, again, due to the carelessness of a parent.

He was brought here so they could make money off of all the zoo visitors. And lets say he was brought here for that purpose. If they had the money to bring them over here than they had the money to give them a larger natural encloser with less interference with humans in thr vincinity. People are so quick to forget how easy it is your eyes can be taken away from a child, for just a moment
Its almost as if the people saying the mother is irresponsible because she took her eyes off her kid aren't mothers yet or parents and so dont realise how 1 min your child is right beside you and the next min you see him some place you didn't expect him to be
Edit: the gorilla may have no evil intention towards the child but I can bet that this situation could happen to even the most responsible parent.
I wont blame the zoo keepers because if the boy had died, whether from loss of blood or head injury, y'all would be accusing them

It's an unfortunate circumstance, an accident that the child fell into the gorillas territory. I believe the gorilla was likely very nervous, and reacted by overly protecting the boy by pulling him around with him.
The smart thing to do was to put the the animal down to protect the boy from potentially being injured or killed. It's unfortunate and unfair for animal, in the future maybe barriers need to be higher up to protect both people and animals.

Stop the screaming from the other people so it won't try to keep protecting the child and try to get it away from the child so someone can go in and take it out. Even a vegetarian like you sees violence as the first option, just how the human race thinks, I guess, as illogical as it may be.

Support for the zoo, support for child and his parents
It's sad to see that after this, some think that best thing now would be for kids patents to get criminally prosecuted, just when he needs he's mom the most.
Zoo officially didn't have much to do, time was running out. Maybe if people went for help, rather than standing there and screaming, Harambee wouldn't get so excited.
At least mom was keeping her voice normal, which was helping to calm the baby.
Definitely would be good for some agency to check if kid is in good hands, but this shouldn't be misused, parents could use some training if needed.
Fence... 38 years was working, definitely should think about making it higher, children proof, or make some areas of Zoo accessible only to adults, think better would be higher fence.
    Harambee rest in peace

  • Fondo Man
    Fondo Man महीने पहले

.. the barrier was obviously too low and the Zoo knew this, this is negligence .. this is why it won't sue the parents who were also negligent .. it'd be okay if ALL parents can keep their eyes on their children ALL the time.
We need to learn from this tragedy to avoid it from ever happening again.
